Products on the Web Store

Each product has three web store settings: visibility, commercial mode, and price display. These control whether the product appears on your site, how customers interact with it, and how the price is shown. All three default to Inherit, which applies a sensible automatic behavior based on the product's type and availability.

Web Visibility

Controls whether the product appears on the web store at all.

  • Inherit: the system automatically shows or hides the product based on its availability, product type, and catalog assignment.
  • Published: the product is always shown on the web store, regardless of availability. Use this to show out-of-stock items as unavailable rather than hiding them.
  • Hidden: the product is never shown on the web store, even if it has stock. Use this for products you sell only on WhatsApp or in-store.

Commercial Mode

Controls what customers can do with the product on the web store.

Price Display

Controls how the price appears on the product page.

  • Inherit: system default based on product type.
  • Exact price: shows the product price directly (e.g. ₹299).
  • From price: shows the lowest variant price with "From ₹..." prefix. Useful for products with a wide variant price range.
  • Price on request: shows "Price on Request" with a contact button instead of the price. Use for B2B or configurable items.
  • Hide price: no price is shown at all. Use for catalogue or portfolio items where price is not relevant.

Setting Web Policy Per Product

  1. Open any product in Catalog → Products.
  2. Scroll to the Web Store section.
  3. Set Web Visibility, Commercial Mode, and Price Display.
  4. Save. Changes take effect on the web store immediately.

Once you explicitly set any of the three fields on a product, all three become explicit (the system stops using Inherit logic for that product) to avoid mixed-mode behavior.

Bulk Web Policy via Import

You can apply web store policy to many products at once using the bulk importer's staged workflow.

  1. Open Catalog → Products → Import.
  2. Upload your product CSV. After validation, the importer shows a Web Policy step.
  3. Choose the web policy mode:
    • Keep existing behavior — do not change any product's web policy.
    • Apply to new rows only — set policy on products being created, leave existing products unchanged.
    • Apply to all rows — set policy on all matched and new products.
  4. Set the target web visibility, commercial mode, and price display for the rows the policy applies to.
  5. Confirm and run the import.

The policy_changed_count in the import results shows how many products had their web policy updated.

Product Categories on the Web Store

Products are grouped by category on the web store. Categories are hierarchical — you can create parent categories (e.g. Apparel) and subcategories (e.g. T-Shirts, Trousers). Set a category on each product in the product form.

Manage categories in Catalog → Categories. You can set a sort order, color, and category image to control how each category appears in the web store navigation.

Common Blockers

  • Product not showing on web store despite being in stock: check web visibility — if set to Hidden, it will not appear. If set to Inherit, check that the product's availability is in_stock and that it is added to an active catalog linked to the web store.
  • Add to cart not appearing: check commercial mode. Display-only or Enquiry modes replace the cart button with an enquiry form or no button.
  • Price showing as "From ₹...": the product's commercial_mode or price_display is set to From price, or the product has variants with different prices and Inherit is applying the from-price rule automatically. Set price_display to Exact to override.
  • Bulk import not applying web policy: ensure you progressed through the Web Policy step in the staged import flow before confirming. Skipping the step leaves the policy unchanged.
