Locations
A Location is a physical place that holds stock and fulfills orders — a store, warehouse, outlet, or production unit. Every organization gets one default location automatically. Multi-location setups let Socialone route each order to the best-placed location based on stock, distance, and capacity.
Default Location
Socialone creates a default location for every organization automatically. Single-location businesses never need to configure routing — all orders go to the default location. You can rename the default location and fill in its address and operating hours without affecting any existing orders.
Location Types
| Type | Use case |
|---|---|
| Store | Retail outlet that holds stock and serves walk-in customers |
| Outlet | Secondary retail point (factory outlet, pop-up) |
| Warehouse / Fulfillment Center | Stock-holding facility that ships but does not serve customers directly |
| Dark Store | Fulfillment-only space; not open to the public |
| Production Unit | Manufacturing location that makes and dispatches goods |
| Clinic | Medical or wellness practice that serves appointments |
| Salon | Beauty or grooming studio |
| Service Center | Repair or technical service location |
Location Roles
- Fulfillment center: orders can be fulfilled and shipped from this location. Turn this off for display-only locations that hold stock but never ship.
- Pickup point: customers can choose to pick up their order here instead of delivery. Socialone sends a pickup code to the customer when their order is ready.
- Sellable: stock at this location counts toward available-to-sell (ATS). Turn this off for quarantine or transit stock you do not want to sell.
Coverage Mode
Coverage controls which customer addresses this location can serve. It is used by the routing engine to filter eligible locations before ranking them.
- National (default): no restriction — location can serve any address in India. Use this for warehouses that ship nationally.
- Radius: location serves customers within a set distance (in km) from its own coordinates. Enter the location's address first so coordinates can be resolved. Use this for hyperlocal delivery from a dark store or store.
- Pincodes: location only serves an explicit list of pincodes. Enter one pincode per line. Use this when your delivery area follows pincode boundaries rather than a circular radius.
Org-level excluded pincodes and excluded states (in OMS Settings → Delivery) apply on top of per-location coverage and are checked first.
Operating Hours
Set open and close times for each day of the week. Operating hours inform the routing engine and intake window logic. A location outside its operating hours may still fulfill queued orders, but no new orders will be accepted for it during closed periods when intake windows are set to Restricted.
Daily Order Capacity
Set a maximum number of orders this location can accept per calendar day. When capacity is reached, the routing engine treats this location as unavailable and routes new orders to the next eligible location. Leave blank for unlimited capacity.
Capacity is counted in the location's local timezone. An order counts toward capacity once it is confirmed and routed to this location.
Per-Location Settings
- Short code: a 2–8 character code used in reports and invoice prefixes (e.g.
MUM-01,DEL-WH). - UPI ID: UPI virtual payment address for in-store QR payments at this location (e.g.
store.mumbai@upi). Falls back to the org-level UPI ID when not set. - GSTIN: location-specific GSTIN for businesses operating across states with separate GST registrations. Used on invoices generated for orders routed to this location.
- WhatsApp account: WhatsApp account used when initiating POS ship orders from this location. Defaults to the org's first active WhatsApp account with OMS settings enabled.
- Fulfillment pipeline: override the org's default pipeline for orders fulfilled from this location. Useful when a warehouse and a store follow different pick-pack-ship sequences.
Multi-Location Setup
Adding a second location enables multi-location routing. Socialone will automatically choose the best location for each order based on the routing policy (nearest, warehouse first, or store first), stock availability, and daily capacity.
Each location maintains its own inventory counters. When you receive stock, record it at the location where the goods physically arrive. The routing engine uses per-location available-to-sell to filter eligible locations before ranking.
Common Blockers
- Radius coverage not working: the location needs a resolved latitude/longitude. Enter a full address including pincode and save — coordinates are resolved from the pincode database.
- All orders going to one location: check that the other locations are marked as Fulfillment Center and are active. Also check their coverage mode and ensure the customer's address falls within coverage.
- Capacity blocking new orders: daily capacity resets at midnight in the location's timezone. If urgently needed, increase or clear the daily capacity limit temporarily.
- Pickup code not sent: the location must have Pickup point enabled. The pickup code is sent when the fulfillment reaches the Ready for Handover stage.
