WhatsApp Groups

Socialone lets you create and manage WhatsApp groups directly from the Unified Inbox. Groups are invite-only and follow Meta Groups API constraints.

Where to Find This

  • Open Messages from the main sidebar.
  • Click New WhatsApp Group (group add icon) in the conversation sidebar header.
  • Open a group conversation and use Manage group for members, invite links, and join requests.

How Group Creation Works

  • Groups are invite-only. A unique invite link is generated after creation.
  • You can add or remove participants and reset the invite link from the group panel.

Create a Group in Socialone

  1. Go to Messages.
  2. Click New WhatsApp Group.
  3. Select the WhatsApp account.
  4. Enter a group name and optional description.
  5. Add participants (max 8).
  6. Choose join approval mode and click Create Group.

Invite Link and Join Requests

  • Use Manage group to copy or reset the invite link.
  • If approval is required, review requests from the Join Requests tab.

Auto Replies and Keyword Replies

  • Keyword replies: work the same as 1:1. When a keyword matches, the configured response is sent to the group.
  • SIA auto replies: if enabled, group messages can trigger SIA responses that post back into the group. The system batches group context and uses an adaptive debounce (about 5 minutes down to 1 minute) so replies are not immediate on every message.
  • If a workflow sends a direct reply (template, keyword reply, or SIA reply), the auto‑reply path is skipped for that message.

Meta Groups API Constraints

  • Eligibility: Groups API requires an Official Business Account (OBA).
  • Max participants per group: 8.
  • Max groups per business number: 10,000.
  • Max Cloud API businesses per group: 1.
  • Template analytics are not available for group templates.
  • Not supported: calling, view-once, disappearing messages, auth, commerce, and interactive messages.
  • Groups are not available for Coexistence users or Multi-solution Conversations.
